]]>Scout Sunday is a week away on February 25 at First United Methodist Church Richardson. FUMCR is a great partner and host for Pack 751 Richardson, so let’s support the day with a great show.
Our Scouts will help by being door greeters, passing out service bulletins, and assisting ushers during the service. There are four services to support: 8:45 AM, 9:45 AM, and two at 11 AM. Please wear your full class A/field uniform for this day and plan to show up about 25 minutes before the service start time to help. Please consider joining for the entire morning or for the service that fits your schedule best. We’d like to see us have at least 10 scouts for each service.

]]>As part of our campout, we will participate in the Fish N Fun Day on Saturday, April 20, with Parent N Pal Weekend. That will include horseback riding (second grade and older), fishing, BB guns (first grade and older), games, bows and arrows, and more for Scouts and their families. The cost is TBD and the location is Clements Scout Ranch/ Trevor Rees-Jones Scout Camp, 11217 FM 2970, Athens, TX 75751. All youth must attend with an adult.
Friends and siblings are invited to come on Saturday for Fish N Fun Day; however, only currently registered Scouts and parents can participate in the Parent-N-Pal Weekend. We are awaiting clarification/exceptions to this for our Pack from the Council Executive.
Be on the lookout for the registration email and additional information.

]]>A cornerstone of Scouting is giving back to our communities and helping others. Pack 751 will do that from 9:45 AM to noon, on Saturday, March 23, at Trusted World.
Trusted World is a nonprofit that provides the best resources, at no cost, to organizations and individuals working on someone else’s behalf. For example, a school counselor who learns of a family’s job loss might reach out to Trusted World for job interview clothes for the parent, warm coats for the kids, and food for the family.
What makes volunteering at Trusted World so special is that kids are welcome to participate, too! In fact, their help is invaluable. This is a rarity!
Please arrive at 9:45 AM at Trusted World, 613 Easy Street, Garland, TX, and let Leah Glaser know you are going: [email protected].

]]>The post Are You Ready for Our Fall 2023 Campout? appeared first on Pack 751 Richardson.
]]>Most Scouts will tell you that their favorite part of the program is the camping. This fall, Pack 751 Richardson is headed to Camp James Ray for two nights of outdoor fun, Friday, Sept. 29 – Sunday, Oct. 1. The location, 2026 Mill Creek Rd., Pottsboro, TX 75076, is about 75 miles northeast of ACM and sits on Lake Texoma. Camp James Ray has lots to offer and we will be playing field games, hiking, canoeing, and if you like to fish, bring your fishing pole!
This is a pack-wide event, from Lions to Arrow of Light, and a family event, so all parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. Arrival time is anytime after 3PM on Friday with departure no later than 11 AM on Sunday. There is no fee to attend.
The paperwork – oh, the paperwork! Every family must fill out the Pack 751 Fall Campout Registration Form so we have an accurate headcount. As mentioned in that form, we must have three other forms from you, too. Please complete, don’t date them so we can use them all year, and send to your den leader before the campout:
IMPORTANT: Please also read our updated document, Camping Rules, Packing Checklist, and Campfire Safety. (Excerpt is below!)
In an upcoming den meeting or call, your den leader will cover specific planning items, like den meals, activities, and to answer your questions. If you need anything else, please reach out to our outdoor activities chair, Sam Mettauer. A lack of camping equipment should not be a deterrent from attending any event. The Pack has a limited supply of gear, if you need to borrow something let him know.
Here’s a good roundup of what to pack, excerpted from Camping Rules, Packing Checklist, and Campfire Safety:
Camping equipment:
* Tent with stakes (in case it is windy)

* Hat offering sun protection

* Swimsuit /clothes and shoes to get wet while canoeing (just in case!)
Family gear:

Toiletries:

* Washcloth and towel
* Soap in container

First aid:

Extras:
