SUMMARY:Popcorn Sales Storefront Slots available 10am–4pm
DESCRIPTION:Popcorn Sales \nPack 751 Richardson participates in popcorn sales for some great reasons. It’s a major fundraiser that earns money for fun Pack activities\, like Pinewood Derby. \nPopcorn sales are also a great way to teach our boys and girls important life skills. Succeeding takes organization\, time management\, self-confidence\, math\, goal-setting\, and persuasive skills\, to name a few! While it is voluntary\, we encourage each scout to sign up for at least 2 hours of their time during our pre-selected storefront timeslots at local retailers. \n  \nSelling Popcorn Is Fun \nIn 2023\, Pack 751 Richardson popcorn sales kick off in late August and go through October. Scouts can sell popcorn through storefront shifts\, door-to-door wagon sales\, or online. \nTo participate\, create an account at Trail’s End\, our fundraising partner. In Trail’s End\, Scouts and parents can set sales goals\, sign up for storefront shifts\, share links to buy\, track sales and deliveries\, send thank you emails\, and more. \nScouts earn points towards an Amazon or other gift cards when they record their sales in the Trail’s End App. They choose the prize they want and points add up fast. \nWe will have a kick-off discussion at our Pack social on September 19th. \n

SUMMARY:Pack Volunteer Day at Trusted World
DESCRIPTION:For the second time\, Pack 751 Richardson is invited to volunteer at Trusted World. This wonderful nonprofit provides the best resources\, at no cost\, to organizations and individuals working on someone else’s behalf (ie: a school principal or firefighter or CPS worker sees a family in need\, contacts Trusted World\, and arranges a donation of high-quality items to them). \nPLEASE RSVP HERE!\nWe will likely be sorting and organizing clean\, donated clothes again. Even young children (3 years old) can participate as the bins are labeled with pictures to aid in sorting. The Scouts and siblings had a blast last time! \nWHAT TO EXPECT:\nOur volunteer slot is booked from 10AM–noon on Saturday\, Dec. 13 (arrive at 9:45AM). We’ll start with a short video and a quick tour of the facility so everyone can get familiar with what they do and the impact of our time. \nHELPFUL REMINDERS: \n\nPlease arrive 15 minutes early for check-in\nClass A uniforms are strongly encouraged and closed-toe shoes are required\nThe warehouse is not climate controlled — they have large fans and bottled water\, but pay attention to the weather that day. Should’t be too hot in December\, but this is Texas…\nParking is limited — carpooling is encouraged\n\nTrusted World is in great need of new\, unopened packages of underwear (all sizes\, no thongs). If each person brought just one pack\, it would go a long way in helping them serve local families with dignity. \n  \n

SUMMARY:2026 Pinewood Derby and Pack Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Pack 751 Pinewood Derby 2026\n\n\n\nThe 2026 Pinewood Derby will be Friday\, Jan. 16\, from 6-8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Richardson.\n\n\nIMPORTANT 2026 UPDATE: All Scouts participating in both the Den-level and Pack-wide competitions MUST compete with a new car that the scout built this school year and that has not previously been used in any pinewood derby competition(s). This rule will be strictly enforced\, and we expect all scouts and Pack 751 families to respect this policy. (See below for more details about opportunities to race previously built cars in the new Legends division.)\n\n\nCar bodies must be built from an official BSA Pinewood Derby kit wood block. No prefabricated car bodies will be allowed! Car bodies built from any non-BSA kits\, regardless of whether the car was built using a pre-cut car body or a plain wood block\, will not be eligible for the Pack and Den competitions and must compete in the Outlaw division.\n\n\nCar check-in and pre-race inspection will take place on race day\, prior to the start of the event. Inspections will begin at 4:30 and all cars will be impounded at 5:30. Please arrive with ample time to check in your car and make any last-minute adjustments before the pre-race impound.\n\n\nHeat races will be held among each Den\, followed by a Pack-wide race for the fastest cars. We’ll conclude the evening with the Legends and Outlaw divisions\, which are both open to scouts\, siblings and adults.\n\n\nFor the Den and Pack competition\, cars must meet the following rules:\n\n\n· Car bodies must be built from an official BSA Pinewood Derby kit wood block.\n\n\n· Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.\n\n\n· Length shall not exceed 7 inches.\n\n\n· Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.\n\n\n· Axles\, wheels\, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit. Additional wheels can be purchased separately.\n\n\n· Wheel bearings\, washers\, and bushings are prohibited.\n\n\n· No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.\n\n\n· The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.\n\n\n· The car must be freewheeling\, with no starting devices.\n\n\n· No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.\n\n\nOutlaw Division and New Legends Division\n\n\nThe new Legends division is open to scouts\, siblings and adults who wish to race Pinewood Derby cars that have previously competed in other PWD events. The primary difference between the Legends and Outlaw divisions is that cars competing in the Legends division must conform to the same technical specifications as cars racing in the main Den and Pack competition\, while the Outlaw division allows participants to build and race creative and extreme car designs outside of the rules.\n\n\nThe purpose of the Legends division is to provide an opportunity for the best cars from multiple years of competition to race against each other. This includes scouts’ top-performing cars from prior competitions\, cars that underperformed in a prior competition\, but have been further worked on and improved\, as well as cars that parents and adult family members built when they were scouts. In addition\, scouts wishing to build more than one car this year can enter additional cars into the Legends division.\n\n\nCars entered in the Legends division must conform to the 2025 technical specifications. Any entries that do not meet these criteria will have to compete in the Outlaw division.\n\n\nOutlaw Division Rules:\n\n\n· Cars must fit on the track\, including the vertical start and finish line arches.\n\n\n· Loose parts\, oil lubricants\, jet fuel\, other liquids\, pyrotechnics\, or anything else that might damage the track\, the facilities or people are prohibited.\n\n\n· Have fun with it\, but please use good judgment.\n\n\nAdditional Info and Tips:\n\n\n· Cars that don’t initially pass inspection can be adjusted and resubmitted for inspection prior to the 5:30 impound. Please bring any tools or supplies you may need to make final adjustments.\n\n\n· Tungsten putty (available from Amazon and hobby stores) is an easy way to add or subtract weight to a car at inspection.\n\n\n· The maximum width and length requirements include any features attached to the body of the car (e.g.\, decorative tailpipes\, wheels\, etc.)\n\n\n· Cars that cannot be brought into compliance with the regulations may enter the Outlaw division\, so long as the car meets the Outlaw division guidelines.\n\n\n· Once a car has cleared inspection and entered into the race\, it cannot leave the garage/racing area without being re-inspected.\n\n\n· Parents are strongly encouraged to have their scouts do as much of the work on their cars as possible\, including age-appropriate use of tools.\n\n\nInterested in helping at the event? Have questions? Need more info? Contact Austin Kilgore 214-908-5097\n\n\nClark Smith\, Competition Director\n\n\nNick McCarthy\, Race Director
